TLDR

Chelsea Handler is turning one painfully dull date with a “serious” actor into fresh material, all while hinting she once enjoyed a quiet affair with an A-lister she still refuses to name.

The comedian who has built a career on revealing just enough about her “horizontal life” has added two more unnamed men to her lore, and both are already shaping her dating mythology.

During an appearance on Kristin Cavallari’s podcast “Let’s Be Honest,” Handler, 51, opened up about a night out with a well-known actor that she described as pure endurance. She admitted she made the first move. The man was interested, at least at first. The chemistry ended there.

“We went on a date, and it was unbearable. And I worked hard,” she said, according to Page Six. “He was so serious about himself as an actor.” The way he spoke about the craft did not land as impressive to her. It landed as insufferable.

Handler said the actor never turned his attention away from his own reflection. “He didn’t ask me one question about myself,” she recalled. “I was like, “Oh, okay.”” She described him as “so boring,” and admitted that listening to him hold court about acting was something she “can’t take seriously.”

What may sting for the mystery man is that, in his version of events, the date was a success. Handler noted that he seemed to think the evening went “great,” a detail that underlines the disconnect. One person thought they were delivering a masterclass in artistry. The other was mentally looking for the exit.

For Handler, who often labels herself an entertainer rather than an actress, the story reinforces the persona she has been refining for decades. She is the one in control of the narrative, even when she withholds names. She will let the audience imagine the “serious” actor, and that speculation becomes part of the entertainment.

The Page Six report also notes that Handler hinted at a very different experience with another unnamed man. She teased what she called a “nice little affair” with an A-list star, suggesting that not every secret chapter in her romantic life ends in eye rolls. This one, it seems, she is keeping sweeter and more protected.

In recent years, Handler has spoken openly about high-profile romances, including her relationships with 50 Cent and fellow comic Jo Koy. Those names are public, parsed, and archived. By contrast, these new blind items remind fans that some of her most intriguing stories live in the space between what she shares and what she withholds.

For the anonymous “serious” actor, the takeaway is not flattering. He joins a long Hollywood tradition of unnamed men immortalized as punchlines. For Handler, the anecdote fits neatly into her brand. The date might have been unbearable, but the story keeps her image sharp, self-possessed, and very much in demand as a narrator of her own life.

Do you think celebrities should share anonymous dating stories that still invite public guessing, or should those private moments stay fully off the record?
