Edwards claimed that Cher reached out directly in June 2025 to ask whether the rumors were true. “Cher got in touch with me last June and asked if it was true, so I had to confess,” she said. Edwards added that the music legend was overwhelmed when she learned the answer. She recalled Cher telling relatives, “Oh my God, I’m finally a grandma.”
Edwards described her past with Elijah as brief but life-changing. She said she became pregnant after one night together in 2010, and that Elijah, now 49, always knew about Ever but never embraced fatherhood. “He always knew from day one, but he never wanted to be a parent,” she alleged, adding that he would only “pop in every couple of years” to say hello.

That second crisis, she said, prompted Cher to call, ask what had happened, and directly question whether Ever was truly Elijah’s child.

Edwards told the U.S. Sun that she and Ever were invited to Cher’s Malibu home in September 2025. “She was lovely and kind, and we had dinner,” Edwards said. She recalled Cher inviting Ever into her famous closet and showing her a pair of jeans she had worn onstage. “It was a cool experience for her.”
Edwards even described Cher as “childlike,” saying the “I Got You Babe” icon asked Ever about boys and splashed in the pool with her. “She was like a kid herself,” Edwards claimed, painting a picture of a megastar trying on the role of grandmother in real time.

The “Mamma Mia” actress recently filed for a renewed conservatorship over her son, telling the court his “drug dependency is at its worst.” Court documents obtained by Page Six state, “Elijah has no ability to manage money, and any dollar he receives from his father’s trust (his only source of income) is immediately squandered without regard for his liabilities or well-being.”
Elijah’s name has also surfaced in police reports. He was arrested in February for alleged assault and trespassing at a school, another public marker of a private struggle that has spanned years.
